Throughout your safari, Tom’s workshops and talks will provide insights into wildlife photography, sharing tips and techniques to enhance your skills. During debriefs, revisit your objectives and see how far you've come, creating lasting memories and tangible improvements in your photography.

On this exclusive trip, hosting a maximum of 8 guests, the adventure begins before you even set foot in Botswana, and continues long after your trip concludes, with special pre-trip and post-trip briefings with Tom. Tom Mason

Professional Wildlife Photographer

Tom is a professional wildlife photographer, YouTuber and speaker from the UK. Having been crafting images of nature for over a decade, his work has taken him from the Amazon rainforest to the Arctic tundra, working with penguins to jaguars. His images have been used by tourist boards, conservation NGOs, as well as many corporate clients and publications. His work has seen him become a highly sought-after educator and lecturer, also gaining a position as a Nikon Europe ambassador when aged only 25 and also holds positions as a Wex Photo Video ambassador and Gitzo Pioneer.

As a photographer, Tom’s style is focused on telling wildlife stories, looking to create images that highlight animals within their natural environment while also focusing in on unseen details, connecting viewers to subjects with unique angles. Within his skillset, Tom has become an avid camera trap and remote camera photographer, working with various remote camera systems over many years to produce unique, one-off images of wildlife. Although often conducting photography for long term projects, Tom is also well versed in turning around images on fast-paced and time-limited trips, putting his experience to great effect to maximise the time spent on location with new subjects.

Tom loves sharing his knowledge with others and has taught fellow wildlife photographers  of all ages and experience levels, working with attendees of his workshops and courses to develop their image making skills, looking to not only develop technical knowhow but challenging their thinking regarding how and why they are making images. Guiding with his experience he will assist in all aspects of shooting from planning and preparation for your trip, through the processes of making technical and artistic shots whilst on location as well as the post-processing and editing of your work. Tom will also provide pre departure and post departure online sessions to get you ready for departure as well as review and learn from the work in the field, or refine your editing once at home.

Kasane to Chobe
1Day

Kasane to Chobe

Arrive independently to Kasane Airport and join your transfer to the excellent Pangolin Chobe Hotel overlooking the Chobe River and the Caprivi Floodplains, just a few hundred meters away from the Chobe National Park boundary. After time to settle in and familiarise yourself with the hotel, you could take the first thrilling game drive of your trip before settling down to dinner in the hotel.

3 nights’ accommodation at the Pangolin Chobe Hotel with all meals, select beverages & 2 game drives per day included.

Chobe National Park
2 - 3Days

Chobe National Park

During your time here you will enjoy daily activities focused on photographing the iconic wildlife and scenery of this remarkable area. Your game drives in the National Park will be guided by a dedicated photo host, and as we search for an abundance of wildlife including lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes and much more, there will be time to spend longer at each sighting in order to completely perfect your snaps.

In between the game drives, you can enjoy some relaxation at your award-winning hotel, where you will find an eco-pool, a stunning photo gallery and editing suite and a delightful bar which serves the best cocktails in Kasane accompanied by spectacular views.

Evenings will be filled with image review sessions, delicious meals, and relaxation time around the sunken firepit with Tom and your fellow guests.

Transfer to Kwara Private Reserve
4Day

Transfer to Kwara Private Reserve

This morning you will transfer back to Kasane Airport to take a bush flight to the renowned Kwara Private Reserve on the northern edge of the magnificent game rich Okavango Delta. Upon arrival, you will transfer to the fantastic, newly-opened 4 Rivers Camp set upon a permanent small lagoon overlooking Maboa Island.

With exclusive access to the western side of the concession, your adventures can begin as soon as you arrive!

3 nights’ accommodation at 4 Rivers Camp on a fully inclusive basis, with all meals, local drinks, day & night game drives, walking tours, and mokoro excursions (water-level dependent) included.

Kwara Private Reserve
5 - 6Days

Kwara Private Reserve

Over the next two days you can fully immerse yourself in this wild and isolated wilderness and its fabled floodplains that teem with plains game and the predators that stalk them. Discover the area’s stunning biodiversity where a confluence of waterways, open plains, forested islands, and Mopane woodlands is home to an abundance of wildlife including African wild dogs, lions, elephants, leopards, sable antelope and much more. Activities included during your time here are thrilling day and night game drives, guided nature walks, and unforgettable mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) excursions which offer a unique perspective and appreciation of the magnificent delta.

Each evening, return to the camp for tasty meals and drinks around the firepit chatting about the day’s adventures and sharing the snaps you will have collated.

Transfer to Khwai Community Area

Transfer to Khwai Community Area

Today it’s time to make our way to the final destination of our trip as we transfer back to the airstrip for a bush flight to the wonderful Khwai Community Area where we will check into the impressive Sango Safari Camp overlooking the Khwai River on the outskirts of the traditional village of Khwai. Located on the border of the Moremi Game Reserve, this will be the perfect base from which to explore the wildlife and culture of this unique habitat.

3 nights’ accommodation at Sango Safari Camp on a fully inclusive basis, with all meals, local drinks, day & night game drives, and mokoro excursions (water-level dependent) included.

Khwai Community Area
8 - 9Days

Khwai Community Area

During these days at Sango Safari Camp, thanks to its wonderful location between the magnificent wildlife areas of the world famous Moremi Game Reserve and the Khwai Concession, you will have the unique opportunity to explore both of these areas from one comfortable base. Wildlife activities included in your stay are open vehicle game drives both in the Moremi and in the Khwai concession area, guided bush walks, night drives and mokoro trips. With a combination of permanent water, seasonal floodplains, open grasslands, riverine forests, and dry woodlands this incredibly rich habitat supports a diversity and abundance of mammals and birds rarely matched in northern Botswana. Hope and expect for sightings of leopards stalking lechwe in the long grass, lions swimming from the banks to save their cubs’ during territorial disputes and crocodiles competing with wild dogs for a midday meal of impala. Unprecedented wildlife photography opportunities await!

Transfer to Maun - End of Tour

As your thrilling Botswana photo safari comes to an end, it will be time to check out and transfer back to the airstrip for a bush flight to Maun. Many options for further connections are available from Maun, but please enquire should you require assistance in organising onward arrangements.

Sango Safari Camp, Khwai

This intimate, comfortable and traditionally styled safari camp overlooks the Khwai River on the outskirts of the Khwai village bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Located on the edge of the Okavango Delta the camp is a perfect base from which to explore the wildlife and unique culture of both of these fantastic areas.

Shaded by trees along the river the camp accommodates just 12 guests so a relaxing, enjoyable and authentic safari experience is guaranteed. Each of the 6 en-suite meru tents have been simply and classically designed in a traditional safari style and feature open-air showers, hand crafted furnishings and a low raised deck with deckchairs allowing you to relax in your beautiful surroundings, scouring the landscape for enchanting wildlife sightings.

Pangolin Chobe Hotel

Operated by renowned photo safari providers Pangolin, the Pangolin Chobe Hotel sits on the plateau overlooking The Chobe River and Namibia’s Caprivi floodplains which stretch out to the far horizon. Located just a few hundred meters away from the Chobe National Park boundary, guests to this beautiful and innovative hotel will likely be the first through the gates each morning. Activities here are predominantly based around photographing the incredible wildlife and beautiful scenery here, with daily game drives and photographic boat cruises included in all stays.

The hotel offers 14 welcoming guest bedrooms which have been finished to a very high standard and have been designed with photographers in mind, including lots of counter space and charging points for cameras and equipment. Each room features an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities, and a private furnished balcony.

Delicious breakfasts, lunches and dinners are served with impeccable service, with dinners usually enjoyed out on the beautiful pool deck under the African night sky. Drinks are included during your stay and can be enjoyed around the sunken fire pit, by the pool or in the cosy Pangolin bar which stocks a wide range of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks and serves refreshing cocktails overlooking one of the best views of the Chobe River and Caprivi Floodplains in the region. The centrepiece of the building is the stunning wildlife photography gallery and a fantastic editing suite for post-production sessions.

4 Rivers Camp, Kwara

With exclusive use of the western side of the renowned Kwara Private Concession in the outstanding Okavango Delta, 4 Rivers Camp offers unique access to this wild and isolated wilderness, with a wide range of activities designed for an authentic immersion into the area’s wonders. Tucked away in ancient woodland, overlooking a small lagoon to Maboa Island, the camp is raised on wooden decks and offers nine spacious meru tents which have been beautifully decorated to provide true safari comfort. Each tent, including an excellent family tent, comes complete with large comfortable beds, a living area, a private deck, and indoor and outdoor showers. The main social area offers a delightful lounge area, a bar, dining room, curio shop, and a small swimming pool with incredible views. Activities offered include game drives, night drives, walking tours and seasonal mokoro trips.
