Your itinerary begins in Anchorage, where having arrived independently, you will take your private transfer from the airport to the elegant Hotel Alyeska at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. Nestled at the base of the Chugach Mountains, this is one of Alaska’s premier hotels, with luxurious rooms and sweeping views making it the optimum base from which to begin your discovery of this magnificent region. After checking in to your beautiful junior suite, complete with full Chugach Mountain Range views, the rest of the day will be at your leisure. You may wish to relax at the full-service spa, take a dip in the saltwater pool, or take a thrilling cable car trip to the top of the mountain to dine at the unique, AAA Four Diamond award winning Seven Glaciers Restaurant. Numerous other dining options are also available within the grounds of the hotel itself.

Portage Scenic Float / Drive to Homer

This morning it will be time for your first included excursion of your Alaska tour as you set off after breakfast for a truly memorable and relaxing rafting experience on the Portage River. Guided by an expert local guide, you can sit back, relax and soak up the panoramic views of a variety of glaciers, including the Middle and Explorer Glaciers, and some of the unique Alaskan wildlife.

After your unforgettable 2 hour float, you will then hop into your driver will collect you in your private vehicle to start your journey by road to the charming seaside town of Homer. This will be a wonderfully scenic drive as you travel along the beautiful Turnagain Arm en-route to the Kenai Peninsula. The area is home to mountain goats, brown and black bears, caribou, and moose, and the world-renowned Kenai River runs alongside the highway for many miles. The Sterling Highway runs along the western edge of the Kenai Peninsula and features extraordinary mountain scenery, sparkling lakes, glacier-fed streams, and beautiful coastal inlets.

Upon arrival in Homer you will check into the excellent Land’s End Resort at the very end of the scenic Homer Spit and enjoy some relaxation time. Surrounded by unforgettable views of the Kenai Mountains, glaciers, and Kachemak Bay, this is the perfect spot from which to relax after a long day of adventures.

Homer Tour / National Park Bear Viewing Tour

Homer Tour / National Park Bear Viewing Tour

A busy day awaits as you start your morning with tour of Homer in a private vehicle with an expert local guide. Your driver can provide suggestions for activities and/or meals as you enjoy your day.

Later that day it will be time for what will possibly be one of the most memorable experiences of your whole trip as you join an experienced bush pilot for a scenic 1 hour flight to either Katmai or Lake Clark National Park for an intimate and authentic Bear Viewing Tour. Your plane will land on a remote beach, and together with your expert guide, you will walk to some of the best places in the area to see brown bears in their natural habitat. You won’t be viewing them from a platform or from behind a screen, but walking among them, photographing them, observing their behaviour and learning all about their means of survival in these remote lands. Your expert guide will ensure you all practice safe distances and take proper precautions so as to not put yourselves, or the bears, in the way of any harm.

Later that evening you will be transferred back to the Land’s End Resort.

Homer to Seward

As you set off today for your private 3.5 hour journey from Homer to Seward, accompanied by an expert driver guide, you will enjoy a tour of the stunning Kenai Peninsula along the way. You will travel north on the Sterling Highway, passing through the Chugach National Forest and Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, keeping an eye out for the brown and black bears, moose, caribou, mountain goats and Dall sheep that all make their home in these parts. Enjoy spectacular scenery throughout, from towering mountains to glacier-fed streams, sparkling lakes and beautiful coastal inlets.

Upon arriving in Seward, one of Alaska’s oldest and most scenic communities, you will check in to the Harbor 360 Hotel, Seward’s premier waterfront hotel. The rest of the day will be at your leisure and you may wish to spend some time enjoying a wander around this quaint Alaskan town and pristine waterfront.

After breakfast this morning you can enjoy a tour of Seward in a private vehicle with an expert local guide. Your driver can provide suggestions for activities and/or meals as you enjoy your day.

You will then hop onboard a spacious catamaran for an incredibly scenic sightseeing cruise to explore the fantastic Kenai Fjords National Park. Make your way to a tidewater glacier for an up-close look, search for sightings of orcas, humpback whales, sea lions, porpoises and puffins, and enjoy a tasty deli lunch onboard.

After breakfast this morning your driver will pick you up at the hotel to begin your journey by road to Talkeetna. You will travel north on the Seward Highway and along scenic Turnagain Arm, designated an All-American Road, surrounded by diverse landscapes of breathtaking fjords and crystal lakes, jagged peaks and alpine meadows.

The journey will take approximately 4.5 hours and upon arrival in Talkeetna you will check in to the beautiful Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. The rest of the day will be at your leisure and you may wish to spend some time exploring this unique town. You could enjoy a meal in a local restaurant or simply relax at your hotel soaking up the comfortable surroundings and views of the Denali and Alaska Range mountains.

Weather permitting; you may get a glimpse of the park’s most famous mountain, Denali, which at 20,320 feet is North America’s highest peak.

After checking in to the fantastic Tonglen Lake Lodge, you will take to the skies for an incredible flightseeing adventure straight into the heart of Denali National Park. Soaring over the outstanding untouched wilderness below, soaking up the massive geological features and rugged beauty of the area, you will gain a new perspective of North America’s highest peak. This unforgettable tour also includes a landing which will allow you to take a memorable walk along a glacier surface!

Today you will continue your exploration of the wonderful Denali National Park, and this morning you will have the services of a private car with driver/guide to explore the areas around the entrance to the park. Later it will be time to enjoy a thrilling Tundra Wilderness Tour, 43 miles into the Park. Narrated by expert guides and naturalists, you will travel through the pristine wilderness searching for sightings of iconic wildlife including bears and moose, and learning all about the area’s history and natural world.

Luxury Dome Rail Service - Denali to Anchorage

Your final full day of your private Alaska tour may in fact be one of your favourite days as you hop aboard luxury dome rail cars, the only of its kind in the world, to take an incredibly scenic rail journey from Denali National Park to Anchorage. The carriage’s glass-dome ceilings, panoramic windows and outdoor viewing platforms will allow you to enjoy unrestricted views of your beautiful natural surroundings including the snaking Indian River, the expansive sights of Hurricane Gulch, the scenic town of Talkeetna, the dramatic mountains of the Chugach Range and much more. Enjoy total relaxation, delicious dining and a feeling of luxury as you tick off another bucket-list experience. The train will depart Denali at 12.30pm and arrive in Anchorage at 8pm.

Upon arrival in Anchorage around 8pm, Alaska’s largest city, your private transfer will take to Hotel Captain Cook, a prestigious Historic Hotel of America where you will spend the final evening of your tour.

As your Alaska tour sadly reaches its conclusion, after breakfast this morning a private transfer will be provided to the airport for your onward or homeward journeys.
