Fairbanks

Fairbanks

Your guided Alaska tour itinerary begins in Fairbanks, Alaska’s second largest city, where having arrived independently you can enjoy your complimentary private airport transfer to your hotel. After checking in to your room there will be a group welcome meeting in the hotel and this evening you can enjoy an included welcome dinner at a great local restaurant where fresh salmon is the order of the day.

1 night’s accommodation at Pike’s Waterfront Lodge (or similar) with dinner this evening included.

Denali - Scenic Train
2Day

Denali - Scenic Train

This morning there will be a buzz of excitement in the air as you check out early and take your private transfer to Fairbanks Rail Depot to board your Deluxe Dome rail cars for an incredibly scenic and truly memorable train journey to the town of Denali, the gateway to Denali National Park. Sit back and relax as you traverse through beautiful scenery and enjoy an included breakfast onboard. Upon arrival in Denali, you and your group can enjoy an included lunch at a local restaurant before checking into the iconic Grande Denali Lodge where some simply spectacular views and genuine Alaskan hospitality is on offer.

The rest of the day will be at your leisure and you may wish to spend some time exploring around Denali at your own pace, or simply enjoying those marvellous views from the comfort of your bedroom. Alternatively, a number of optional tours are available for an additional cost, including a thrilling ziplining tour through the forest.

2 nights’ accommodation at Grande Denali Lodge (or similar) with breakfast included. Breakfast on the train and lunch in Denali are also included today.

Denali National Park
3Day

Denali National Park

Today will see you discover inside of the Denali National Park as you set off for your included Tundra Wilderness Tour aboard a unique school bus-style vehicle, accompanied by an expert local driver and guide. Learn all about this fascinating and incredibly scenic area’s flora and fauna, and search for sightings of wildlife including wolves, caribou, moose and maybe even some grizzly bears! Later today you may wish to visit the Denali Visitor Center and join park ranger demonstrations and walks. There will also be a number of optional tours available for an additional cost.

Talkeetna
4 - 5Days

Talkeetna

After breakfast this morning you will hop in the minivan and set off along the Parks Highway in the direction of the remote town of Talkeetna, stopping at a number of interesting spots along the way including Kahiltna Birchworks where you can learn all about the area’s most famous sweet treat, Birch syrup, and of course sample some for yourself. More treats to delight your tastebuds are on the way as you visit the Denali Brewing Company for a spot of beer tasting and some insight into how they became one of the most successful brewing companies in Alaska.

You will then continue on to Talkeetna itself to enjoy an orientation tour and a visit to the Talkeetna Ranger Station to learn about the town’s rich climbing history, before checking into the Talkeetna Alaska Lodge and settling in.

The following day will be at your leisure, with plenty of options to keep you entertained. Many optional activities are available for an additional cost, including a jet boat ride up one of Talkeetna’s braided rivers where you will learn all about the local area and the Indigenous populations who have called this place home for thousands of years, whilst keeping an eye out for sightings of wildlife such as bears, wolves and eagles. Other options include scenic flights over the area. Your tour leader will be happy to provide and arrange a number of options for you. Alternatively, you could simply enjoy a peaceful stroll around the town or put your feet up with a drink a good book at the hotel.

Spencer Glacier - Seward
6Day

Spencer Glacier - Seward

This morning you will set off early after breakfast to travel to the resort town of Girdwood where, after an included group lunch, you will board your whistle stop train to Alaska’s backcountry and the Spencer Glacier’s terminal moraine. Likely to be a highlight of the trip, today you can enjoy a gentle guided hike around a section of Spencer Lake to a spectacular lookout offering unobstructed views of the glacier. Your expert guide will offer insight along the way.

After an exploration of the area, you will board the train again to arrive at Portage and take your private road transfer to the coastal town of Seward where you will check in to the Windsong Lodge.

2 nights’ accommodation at Windsong Lodge (or similar) with breakfast included. Lunch is also included today.

Seward
7Day

Seward

After breakfast this morning it’s time for another exciting day as you transfer to a small boat harbour and hop onboard for a six-hour glacier and wildlife cruise around Resurrection Bay with an expert local guide. This thrilling adventure will see you get up-close to a calving glacier, search for wildlife including eagles, seals, whales and otters, and enjoy a lovely lunch onboard surrounded by unforgettable scenery.

After your tour the rest of the afternoon/evening will be at your leisure and you wish to take a relaxing stroll through this unique town before sampling one of the local restaurants.

Alyeska Tram / Anchorage
8Day

Alyeska Tram / Anchorage

After breakfast at the lodge this morning it will be time to set off towards Anchorage, with some interesting stops along the way included. One of these will be the fascinating Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center where an expert local guide will offer you an insight into the incredibly important work that is carried out here to preserve Alaska’s wildlife through conservation and research, and show you how they care for injured animals and rehabilitate them to help them return to the wild. Another exciting part of the day will be a trip on the famous Alyeska Tram to the top of Mount Alyeska where stunning views await, especially if the weather is clear. Later that day you will arrive in Anchorage and settle into your hotel.

Anchorage

The final day of your tour will be filled with activities as you spend some time exploring Anchorage and its delights. Your included guided tour of the city will take you to some of the city’s best museums, including the fantastic Alaska Native History Center where you can learn all about Alaska’s native populations and how they survived for thousands of years in such a harsh climate, and the Alaska Aviation Museum on Lake Hood where you can meet with local pilots to hear about what it’s like to fly bush planes in this remote part of the word.

This evening you can join your group for an included farewell dinner at a local restaurant to commemorate your Alaskan adventure and bid a fond farewell to your new-found friends.

Anchorage - End of Tour

Anchorage - End of Tour

After one final breakfast this morning, your Alaska tour will come to an end and it will be time to check out of your hotel and begin your journey homewards or onwards. Should you wish to spend additional time in Anchorage, our destination experts will be happy to help you arrange this.
