Wild Explorations of India – A Responsible Wilderness Journey

This exciting itinerary through some of India’s most impressive National Parks and Tiger Reserves offers you the chance to discover the wonderfully unique nature of this fascinating country in a more environmentally conscious and socially responsible manner. As a responsible travel itinerary, we have ensured that the lodges selected for this program offer limited or no single use plastic, have firm responsible tourism practices in place, and that their staff largely come from the local communities based around the lodge. Internal flights have been limited as much as possible, and jeep safaris have been limited by offering explorations on foot and by boat wherever possible.

In terms of the wildlife that you can expect to encounter, although you will of course be on the lookout for the big cats that the Indian jungles are famous for, your tour will also feature a focus on some of the smaller and lesser-known fauna that can often be overlooked on some other tours. This will offer you a more rounded wilderness experience.

Adding to the unforgettable wilderness experience, a highlight of your trip will be a memorable mobile camping experience that will see you explore Satpura Tiger Reserve on foot, walking around 10-15km per day and camping out under the stars in the evening.

You will visit the iconic Taj Mahal, enjoy a half-day tour of Delhi, and spend time discovering the wonders of magnificent National Parks and Tiger Reserves including Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve, Chambal National Park and Satpura Tiger Reserve. Staying in good standard, eco-conscious accommodation throughout, and with private transfers, internal flights and international flights included*, this is a very impressive and thoughtfully curated Indian jungle itinerary.

*Return flights between London Heathrow and Delhi are included in your package (other departure points available upon enquiry).

Marchula (Corbett Tiger Reserve)
2 - 3Days

Marchula (Corbett Tiger Reserve)

Your India wildlife adventure begins with an experience that will take you back in time as you explore forests as they were explored 100 years ago. After an early breakfast this morning you will take your transfer to Marchula on the northern boundary of Corbett Tiger Reserve where the Ramganga River enters into the tiger reserve and where you will find the wonderfully remote Vanghat Lodge, your home for the next 2 nights. Your adventure begins as soon as we reach the river front, as the Vanghat team meet us at the suspension bridge over the river and we take an approximately 2.5km hike to the river edge where we will hop into a small raft that will pull us across to the lodge on the other side of the river. The lodge will be worth the travel as you check in and soak up the fabulous surroundings.

When you have had time to settle in, this evening you can enjoy the first of your 4 included walking explorations here in the company of an expert naturalist.

The following day you can enjoy a full day of exploration here. Mornings usually begin early, as you awake to the sounds of the great hornbills flying over the lodge. Your exploratory walks today will each last around 4 hours (although these can of course be shortened on request) and will take you through various trails and tracks in search of wildlife and birdlife in the surrounding wilderness, in the morning, afternoon and evening. Breakfast is usually enjoyed within the jungle, by a small waterfall or a vantage point overlooking the river, and throughout the day you will be on the lookout for the wide variety of animals that call this area home. Species you may encounter include Bengal tigers, leopards, smooth coat otters, serow, ghural, Great Hornbills, Pallas fish eagle, lesser fish eagle, crested kingfisher, pied kingfisher, spotted forktail, long billed thrush, red-billed blue magpie, great barbet, blue throated barbet, a variety of sunbirds, and flycatchers to name just a few.

Once back at the lodge, if weather permits, a swim in the pristine Ramganga River is a must. Its cool waters are an amazing way to cool off after your walks.

Activities Included During Your Stay: 4 Walking explorations with a naturalist guide.
