Magic of the Arctic Boat Safari

Your guide will meet you in the reception of your Longyearbyen hotel at 5pm, where you will receive all of the information about the trip, equipment and outfit details. Transport to the quay, where the polarcircelboat is ready to start the safari tour towards Isfjord Radio. On the way, we have time to enjoy the fantastic fjord scenery, animal wildlife and Arctic seabirds. We spend the late afternoon exploring the great area of Kapp Linné, and learn more about the wildlife at the station, before settling down in your luxury wilderness accommodation. A delicious 3-course dinner will be served in the evening. Accommodation for the next 2 nights in Isfjord Radio Hotel on a full-board basis.

Breakfast is served from 8.00 am. After breakfast we will board the boat for an exciting safari to the west side of the fjord. The route will go eastwards along the coastline before crossing Isfjorden at Kapp Starostin and go straight to the mighty bird cliffs of Alkehornet where you will find thousands of nesting birds. In Trygghamna we go ashore and enjoy expedition lunch at the beach. After lunch, we’ll have a closer look at the area before heading to the fantastic Esmark Glacier in Ymerbukta. If we’re lucky, we might observe whales, seals or even get a glimpse of the “king of the Artic”, the polar bear. Upon return to the hotel you can enjoy an exhilarating dip in the icy waters followed by a warm-up in the sauna before your 3-course dinner in the evening. As you settle down for the night in your very comfortable bedroom surrounded by the Arctic silence, you may realise that you’ve just had one of the best days of your life.

Breakfast is followed by a new day of adventure as we say goodbye to Isfjord Radio and pack our bags ready to head to the boat. We will go to Grønfjorden and the Russian settlement Barentsburg. Barentsburg is a mining city with approximately 350 residents and is a fascinating place to visit. We will go ashore and take a tour around the town before a light lunch is served in the brewery. After lunch we head back to the boat and set course towards Longyearbyen, making several interesting stops along the way. We will arrive back in Longyearbyen in the late afternoon.
