Arctic Highlights

Embark on the expedition ship in the afternoon and depart Longyearbyen in the evening.

Taking advantage of local ice and weather conditions, explore the Spitsbergen coast looking out for polar bears, Arctic fox, Svalbard reindeer, walrus, whales and birds. The scenery here is magnificent, with towering mountains, glaciers and rolling tundra. We may also visit some historical sites associated with mining and whaling in past centuries.  

Look out for whales, which feed here in the late summer. Spot orca, humpback and minke whales as well as white-beaked dolphins. Enjoy informative lectures by expert expedition staff.  

Head south along the eastern coast of Greenland. Sail through some of the most spectacular fjord country in the world. Explore rarely visited glaciers, bays and inlets in the world's largest national park. Look for wildlife such as walruses, seals, musk oxen, foxes, Arctic hares, lemmings, and a variety of birds. Explore in Zodiacs to get a closer look at some of the birdlife and to walk on the tundra.

We also plan to visit the small settlement of Ittorqqortoormiit to see local crafts and Inuit culture.

Enjoy the lecture series while watching the seas for whales. Head towards Iceland and the steaming hot springs of Reykjavik. The view is often complemented by soaring fulmars, kittiwakes, gannets, guillemots, and razorbills.

Disembark in the morning. The port here is within easy walking distance of the city.
