Sao Paulo to Pantanal

Sao Paulo to Pantanal

Fly from Sao Paulo to Cuiba. Met by local guide for drive along the scenic Transpantaneria to Porto Jofre for three nights on full board basis.

Porto Jofre

Located at the end of the Transpantaneira at the banks for the Cuiaba river Hotel Porto Jofre is a suberb location to explore the Cuiaba River and the 3 Brothers State Park, one of the best locations in South America to see jaguars. On your river cruises here, you will also be spotting river otters, caiman and beautiful and extensive birdlife.

4 - 6Days

Araras Eco Lodge

Day 4 Departure from Porto Jofre and transfer to Araras Eco Lodge. While crossing the area it is possible to observe and appreciate the local flora & fauna. Late afternoon walk through surrounding area to a 12 m observation tower and a spectacular view of sunset. After dinner, night walk to observe the Southern Hemisphere sky, hear and feel the nocturnal environment.

Day 5 Full day dedicated to observing the Pantanal’s flora & fauna at a private reserve of the lodge. After breakfast, the guide will lead you on a 2 to 3 hour horseback ride through the pastures, woods and wetlands. Lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will go on a walk in a different area of the private reserve, allowing you to observe and learn more of the local environment.

Day 6. After breakfast travel down private unsealed roads to Sentinela Camp on the edge of the Rio Clarinho. Canoe tour to spot aquatic wildlife, birds and flora; possibility of piranha fishing. Brazilian churrasco style picnic lunch along the banks of the river. Return to the lodge. Enjoy sunset from our 25m high outlook.

Pantanal to Amazon Basin

After an early morning sunrise walk and breakfast at the lodge, transfer back to Cuiaba for flight to Alta Floresta. Met and transferred to Cristalino Jungle Lodge for three nights on full board basis.

8 - 10Days

Amazon Basin

Day 8. In the morning, walk towards the 50 metre Canopy Tower where you will be able to see the forest from above. Monkeys, macaws and several species of birds can be found here. Then, walk the Ficus Trail, where a giant ficus tree is found. In the afternoon, walk the Taboca Trail in an area with seasonally flooded forest, where many monkeys can be found.

Day 9. In the morning, walk towards the Saleiro House - a rustic tree house located in the middle of the forest reserve. The soil here is naturally rich in minerals, and is often visited by large forest mammals such as the South american tapir, collared peccary, white-lipped peccary, the giant anteater and the southern tamandua. In the afternoon, take a boat trip up river and walk the remarkable Brazil Nut Trail in a region with enormous Brazil nut trees. On the way back it is possible to canoe or boat ride, enjoying the afternoon as you go down river.

Day 10. In the morning, a light walk on the Tapiri Trail, where the white-whiskered-spider-monkeys. Transfer to Alta Floresta. Lunch and departure to Cuiaba, with connecting flight to Sao Paulo.
