African Bird

Birding in Africa

WILDFOOT offer exciting birdwatching trips to Namibia, Zambia and Botswana, where you can expect to witness a diverse and colourful range of endemic species. Botswana has over 500 regularly occurring species of bird and a good day’s birding in Okavango, Chobe or Makgadikgadi in the middle of the wet season can yield many of these.

Zambia’s national emblem is the African fish eagle and this along with 750 other species can be found in the country, whilst Namibia is a rare birdwatcher’s treat. The coastal areas, combined with deserts and plains provide a superb variety of habitats and species including 16 near endemics and more than 40 of Africa’s raptors.

Birding in The Americas

WILDFOOT offer a great range of wildlife expeditions to South America including Chile, Galapagos, Brazil and the birder’s paradise that is Costa Rica. In these wonderful areas you can expect to witness a remarkable and diverse range of birds including the Andean Condor, The Blue Footed Booby and the rare Harpy Eagle amongst much, much more.

Costa Rica alone is home to 877 recorded species of birds and is truly a complete birder’s destination. That is not to say, however, that the other South American destinations are lacking in the birds department. 60% of all known bird species in South America are found in Brazil and The Galapagos islands are famously home to a huge range of endemic birds that cannot be seen anywhere else in the world.
