Aurora

An Australian operator offering a range of itineraries in the Arctic regions, including Alaska. The main Arctic itineraries start in Scotland and sail with Polar Pioneer via Norway to Spitsbergen then operate around Svalbard, Greenland and Iceland. Adventure options include kayaking, scuba, climbing, etc. Expeditions cover the Spitsbergen, Greenland, Iceland, Shetland & Orkney Islands and the Norwegian Coast.

Their small ship Wilderness Adventurer operates around Alaska’s Inside Passage and sails to the heart of this spectacular area.

G Adventures

G Adventures are one of the best value operators, offering classic Arctic itineraries on board a good, mid-range comfortable ship carrying just over 100 passengers. Apart from the first itinerary of the season, which embarks in Norway, all trips are either in or out of Longyearbyen. Adventure option of kayaking. Routes are to the Norway, Spitsbergen, Greenland and Iceland

An established German luxury cruise company operating two, purpose-built expedition ships, which offer a 5 star onboard service without compromising the expedition experience of zodiac cruising, etc. This company offers the only full crossing of the Northeast Passage from Alaska to Norway over the top of the world. Itineraries within the Arctic region include the Russian Far East, Spitsbergen, Greenland and the Canadian Arctic.

Heritage

Heritage is a New Zealand based operator specialising in bird and wildlife orientated expeditions and offer in depth itineraries within the Russian Far East on board a small Arctic cruise ship with accommodation for just 50 passengers. Facilities are basic but comfortable. Russian Far East routes only.

A Dutch company sailing two Arctic cruise ships in the region with a range of itineraries. Good, mid-range accommodation and service and the best selection of adventure options, such as kayaking, skiing, mountaineering, and scuba, including a unique ‘Basecamp’ facility on some departures. The company also operates two sailing ships throughout the season for a unique Arctic experience. Itineraries include Greenland, Spitsbergen, Norway, Shetland & Orkney Islands and Jan Mayan

Companie du Ponant

A French line with three Arctic cruise ships, each a luxury, purpose built expedition vessel offering a five star experience with a French flavour without compromising the expedition experience. Ships carry up to 200 passengers in a combination of twin or double cabins and suites. There are no adventure options. Northwest Passage, Canadian Arctic, Greenland, Spitsbergen, White Sea and Russian Far East route options.
